Live in Australia and Learn a Trade
Trade Skills Training Visa
Live in Australia and learn a trade at the same time! This news sounds too good to be true but the Trade Skills Training visa will allow this dream to come true. This new visa has been introduced by the Australian Government as part of a number of measures to help reduce the severe skills shortages in regional Australia (that is anywhere in Australia, except Brisbane, Gold Coast, Newcastle, Sydney, Woollongong, Melbourne and Perth). It provides regional Australian employers with an opportunity to fill apprenticeship vacancies, where they have been unable to find an Australian to fill the position. The apprentice will work in regional Australia and directly contribute to local business and community growth.
Who Will this Visa Help?
The trade skills training visa is designed to help people from outside Australia aged between 18 and 35 years undertake an apprenticeship in regional Australia. An apprenticeship combines workplace-based training and classroom-based learning in a trade. The apprentice must be sponsored by an eligible Australian organisation.
Trade skills training requires:
- an Australian sponsoring organisation
- an eligible apprenticeship vacancy
- an apprentice.
On completion of a trade skills training apprenticeship, the apprentice will have gained a nationally recognised Certificate III or IV qualification. This qualification will enable the apprentice to apply for one of Australia's permanent regional skilled migration visas.
What is the First Step?
